This two track 7" features "The Jehrney" and "Song Of The Lobster" from Toronto's Shadowy Men. If you are already familiar with their music, these two tracks come as no real surprise. It's great straight-ahead, guitar-driven instrumental surf music. The trio has a big fan base and continues to play as the house band for "The Kids In The Hall." They have three full-length releases under their belt, and this is 7" number seven. "The Jehrney" is produced by Steve Albini, as is their latest full-length release, Sport Fishin'. "Song Of The Lobster" is produced by Ormond Jobin.

The Derivative label is almost as noteworthy as the 45's music. Derivative is a new label out of Montreal that seems to be a real grass-roots, mom and pop operation dedicated to releasing only 7" vinyl (which takes guts). Take Outs is the label's first release, and if it is any indication, we should watch out for future releases. Stamped out of lovely blue vinyl (or PVC), Take Outs' two tracks appear nowhere else in the world and would nicely complement any collection.
